[ Thoughts The Day Before ]

I'm feeling ill with nerves over tomorrow's first show, but instead of fighting them off, I'll embrace them and channel them into my work. I find that best instead of stifling these feelings. Can't control feelings. You can only give them room to roam.
I find it interesting that when a show was done before, when people have seen it performed one way, they expect it to be performed that same way by the next cast and that's unfair. When a new face comes along and criticizes you for not doing it the way another performer did it, you can only ignore them. I could allow myself to get messed up by someone's criticisms or decide that they don't know what they're doing. I can't wrestle with my nerves but I can only work with them so I don't get bogged down by them. I hate when I'm backstage and I try to strangle these nerves to control them then end up being half-assed onstage. When someone interferes with your performance choices, they're toxic, and an anti-toxin should be used. Mine is to ignore this toxic person. Performance anxiety can plague you, but it's part of the job.
