[ [Theatre Thursday] Remake ]

From theaterthursday

1) What is your favorite remake of an older film? Did it actually improve on the original? "Ocean's Eleven". I wished I'd seen the original, being as I'm a fan of The Rat Pack, but I'll blindly say this looks better than the original.

2) What remake was handled so poorly even if the original was not great it would've seemed Oscar-worthy? Diabolique starring Sharon Stone. The original was a black/white french movie that was good, but Sharon's performance was, while mediocre, was better than the remake. You have to see the original!

3) Are there any classic films you feel would cause the fabric of space/time to rip apart were a remake made of it? The Indiana Jones Trilogy. Nobody could remake that, even if they tried. Even if they made a puppet theatre production, or a radio play, or a Disney Pixel production rivalling Shrek!

BONUS) What film would you most like to see remade, and what would be your dream cast? "Cleopatra Jones" ; the first one deserves a remake whereas "Cleopatra Jones & The Casino of Gold" is good enough. A better blaxploitation film than the Pam Grier films with all due respect to Pam Grier. I'd love star in it, the Marlon & Shawn Wayans as Melvin and Marvin, Kathy Bates to replace Shelley Winters, Chris Tucker to replace Antonio Fargus and a bunch of unknowns for the rest. I'd have it shot in Winnipeg of course, but if that can't be done, then Vancouver!
